RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL CENTRE ON HISTORY AND CULTURE OF THE EUROPEAN NORTH

The Centres organization became one of the natural and promising ways of promoting co-operation with Nordic countries in the field of humanities.

THE CENTRES GOALS:

  • Accumulation of knowledge on the history, culture and international relations in the European North, and their introduction into research and educational programs and projects;


  • Organization of an active, integrated system of information exchange while creating projects and in joint work of universities, institutes, academies and other research organizations from Nordic countries and the North-West of Russia;


  • Creation of conditions for organization of training and retraining of specialists in the history and culture of Nordic countries and the European North of Russia;


  • Organization of activities within various lines of international co-operation in the North of Europe.

THE CENTRES OBJECTIVES:
  • Creation and organization of distance learning courses in the history and culture of Nordic countries and the European North of Russia;


  • Organization and implementation of research and educational programs and projects;


  • Establishing close contacts with higher schools and research institutions of Nordic countries;


  • Inviting lecturers from Nordic countries universities to deliver courses of study at the Historical Faculty of PetrSU;


  • Creation of a permanent Summer School at the Centre, in co-operation with the University of Umea (Sweden), to promote open exchange of experience in introducing and developing novel technologies into the educational sphere;


  • Rendering assistance to temporary working teams in preparing and publishing innovative manuals;


  • Identifying courses of study, specialized courses and specialized seminars on the history and culture of Nordic countries and the European North of Russia needed to organize the academic process at the Historical faculty of PetrSU;


  • Promoting the activities of the Centres existing structural subdivisions;


  • Participation in scientific and practical conferences, both Russian and foreign.
