The Centre’s creation was due to the need to promote international co-operation in the field of cross-cultural and linguistic communications, to render students and researchers from different countries educational services in learning Russian and main European languages.
Therefore, the organization of the Centre proved to be one of the natural and promising ways of stimulating co-operation with Nordic countries in the field of humanities.
THE CENTRE’S GOALS:
Accumulation of knowledge on history, culture and international relations in the North of Europe, and its introduction into research and educational programs and projects;
Organization of an active integrated system of information exchange while creating projects, as well as joint work of universities, institutions, academies and other research organizations from Nordic countries and the North-West of Russia;
Creation of conditions to organize training and retraining of specialists in the history and culture of Nordic countries and the European North of Russia;
Organization of activities within different lines of international co-operation in the European North.
THE CENTRE’S OBJECTIVES:
Creation and development of an international Centre for studying world civilization with the purposes of scientific and training-educational activities in the fields of cross-cultural and linguistic communications and up-to-date information technologies;
Acquiring international experience and educational standards for specialists training, as well as integration into the world market of educational services;
Refresher and advanced courses for the teaching staff of the Philological Faculty departments;
Organization and holding of scientific schools and seminars;
Creation and implementation of joint educational and research projects in the field of cross-cultural, linguistic and information communications;
Organization and implementation of research and educational programs and projects;
Promotion of the activities carried out by the Centre’s existing structural subdivisions;
Participation in the scientific and practical Russian and foreign conferences.
